DANNY and Tara Adams of The Greyhound pub in Bromham near Chippenham were amongst the finalists for this year’s Licensee of the Year competition run by The British Institute of Innkeeping (BII).

Sponsored by Sky, the competition is "regarded as the most rigorous and hard-fought award" for individual licensee operators in the UK say BII.

Since the launch in January, people working in the licensed trade were encouraged to not only register themselves but also nominate others.

The BII said they have been delighted with the result, seeing customers, colleagues, pub companies, breweries and fellow operators all nominating their favourite ‘local’.

The winners were David Hage and Mark Osborne from The Railway, Lowdham

Selected from a field of 200 entrants, the final 12 publicans include licensees from across the country.

The 2019 Licensee of the Year finalists were as follows:

Danny & Tara Adams – The Greyhound, Bromham

James & Tom Bainbridge – The Tilbury, Datchet
